Soybean Festival (The Gap)Fall has brought many things this year for us. David and I have made frequent trips to Nashville for doctors visits and retesting. I haven't had any more headaches in quite some time although my vision still suffers. David's scope in October showed no sign of cancer in the esophagus (or what used to be his esophagus) area. He needs a PET scan, but we must wait until January for that one so for now, we are just moving forward as best we can.
David went with me to my 20th reunion. We had a nice time and I did an ok job as the planner. It was pretty low key, but I actually enjoyed myself a lot and it was great to see old friends. Everyone wants to have a 25th reunion now so we have already set a date.
We have also had a new presence in our lives. Kitties.
Ophelia Shane appeared in our back yard and seemed to adopt us more than we adopted her. Ophelia was, yes was special. After having her for only a few weeks, she was hit by a car and killed on the day before my birthday. David and I were so very very sad. We still miss her actually. She was the sweetest cat ever and really brought us joy.
We have adopted a kitten since then. Agnes Tan-foot Coffey. We found her on the internet and she was a stray kitten dropped off at a shelter in Murray, KY. She has been with us for a week already and is fitting in nicely. She is still skittish when we walk near her, but otherwise, she plays and sleeps with us and pounces on our heads. We wake up laughing at her and she has proven to have almost as loud a purr as Ophelia did.
Other than that, David's band and my band have played 2 gigs together. We played at Brandy's and The Gap during the Soybean Festival. It was LOTS of music making there for about 3 weeks.
My percussion studio this fall has been a blast with more kids than ever (and good students at that). Lots of Caixa Trio projects in the mix and I have several Brazilian clinics in the Spring in which I am hoping that David can go with me. One is in Abilene so that will be fun for us.
Well, on this beautiful fall day, David and I will perform the plant exodus of the season. Frost is coming and that means work for us. How did the cold weather get here so fast.
Oh, we are also really really into Los Lobos these days. We may even go see them on New Years Eve, but it depends on TCU who is doing better than ever. We may go to a bowl game and see them.
Oh, did I mention the Rangers are in the Worlds Series for the first time ever! We are pumped.
Signing off,
Julie
