Julie's headache/hospital stay August 2-9, 2010

Well, we came back from vacation only to see my headaches linger.

Here is the short story. I went to Zumba on Monday August 2 to teach. While doing a few pull ups before class, it hit me. I couldn't think, breath, talk, or move. One of the women in my class called David. This was about 5 pm. They ook me out of Sidelines on a stretcher and to the ER at Volunteer. After screaming and waiting for someone to help with the pain, they finally did a CT Scan which showed two areas of bleeding on my brain. They called a helicopter from Dyersburg to come to Martin and take me to Jackson.

I spent Monday in hell, waiting for someone to ease my pain. Finally after Morphine and any other number of drugs, they gave me Delaudid at 11 pm and I started to feel some relief. I was in ICU until Tuesday at Jackson. I staying there until Thursday and felt more and more like I was dealing with negligence or at least incompetence at every turn. Lost CT Scan requests and much more. I request a transfer to Vanderbilt on Thursday and am under the care of Derek Riebau and his team by Thursday afternoon. I have another episode there before they can get me all checked in and investigate my meds. It was awful. Finally they give me delaudid and I have an MRI (the worst part of the whole experience other than the headaches themselves). I have had an ultrasound, and angioscopy, and a Spinal Tap or Lombar puncture as they like to call it.

It's Sunday now and I will get out of Vandy tomorrow. Will try and get all our records together and digitize them and keep them with me from now on.
