Julie and David's Blog Update August 2012

My blog posts have gotten a little infrequent I am afraid, but it seems like one post on Winter break and one post on Summer break is quite doable!

NOTE: The link toFflickr which the blog makes reference to was somehow removed so no photo timeline to follow - sorry. I blame Flickr :>)))

The photos serve as a guide for mine and David's activities from Spring semester through the Summer of 2012.

The photos start with my dad CT, driving my students on their spring tour in January. Then, another school trip with dad driving UTM students and faculty to a concert at the All West TN Band/Orchestra conference.

After that, Dad turns 69, a date David and I thought he would much rather celebrate than his 70th. It was a surprise party and was he ever surprised!!!!!! It was awesome. A true double take.

A few Caixa pics next as we performed at the University of Missouri for one this semester. We had the honor of performing and speaking to some young people in a juvenile detention facility where my best friend from Kindergarten, Ruthie, works. She does great things there! We also performed in Houston this semester and at the U of Arkansas Music Camp.

The next pics show one of my individual trips to San Antonio, TX this semester (I went first with David and worked without Caixa to teach students at Ronald Reagan H.S. how to play two of my pieces and then I went back on a separate trip with Caixa to give a concert and have the students perform my two pieces as well). There are a few photos after of my clinic/concert at White House H.S. and of my visit to Florida State with John Parks.

Other candids show me and D meeting up with Helen and Peter and then I had a nice dinner with Nancy Campbell on one of her trips to Murray, KY.

We also hosted the History and Philosophy department for one of David's colleagues retirements. They seemed to like the mural that Les MacDiarmond painted for us, but they loved the weed dragon even more and although they are all intellectuals, they were impressed by my ability to make an instant fire....ahhhh to be a redneck at heart!

Next , a few other events at the house - my students end of the semester cookout and then David receives the Cunningham award for this year!!!!

A few pics of me teaching at Interlochen. That was fun and my dear husband drove with me all the way and we pulled an all night road trip to get home and teach Governor's School. We only missed one day of classes and that was way up in Michigan.

A few pics of the fundraiser for "Resonance" Scultpure Soundscape in which David and David performed (they have been gigging a lot). Micah and the Meade's were awesome loaning us their newly improved nursery (former Virgin's Nursery) for us to us. They did so much work to help us out and great things are to come from that place. A hip outdoor venue in Union City, TN and Micah is already setting up his recording studio there too!

David bought me a CAMPER for my early 40th birthday present!!!!! We took it to Texas for his family reunion and then Montgomery Bell State Park in TN for my family's reunion. We had a few mishaps with our driveway and the trailer falling off the hitch before we even got down the street, but all in all, we love it!

Finally, a few pics from mine and David's trip to Ixtapa, Mexico. We stayed at the Capella resort and it was just what the doctor ordered to reward David for editing a 1.5 MILLION WORD ENCYCLOPEDIA. I am so proud of that man!

Band Camp starts this week, but we have a trip to Europe for Cousin Morgan's wedding in September so the post at Christmas break should be exciting!

Take care friends.
