Summer is beginning to wind down here in West Tennessee.
We have had a busy summer for the most part. We started out with our relaxed trip to Napa and Sonoma Counties, but have since been working very hard. David and I both taught a Governor's School Class at UTM and then pretty much every day since then, I have been working on moving out of our music building into a temporary two year space. It's been constant moving and organizing, but I think will be well worth the trouble when we move into our fancy new building in two years.
David has started enjoying Facebook (much to his surprise I think) and has connected with many old friends. We just went to Fort Worth for his 30th high school reunion. Claire came as well and we had a blast visiting with David's old friends and family. David said that no one recognized him with his short hair and thinner physique.
My nephew Payton visited for a week this summer and we took Japanese lessons together. We just had a pleasant visit from David's niece Julie who will come back through town again next week. Some 27 b stroke 6 rehearsals in the basement as well. Great visits with Helen and Peter and Drew and Nancy.
Other than that, we have had a few trips on the Buffalo River with friends and students. Coming up soon we are hosting a 70th birthday party for our dear friend Victor. My best friend Helen gets married soon after that and then we have a short trip to visit Jane and Henry at Look Out Mountain.
School starts soon after that, but we have already begun planning our Christmas vacation in Brazil. No cold weather destinations for us this holiday season!
David just finished a multitude of encyclopedia entries. I did get Advanced Zumba and Zumba Gold training over the summer. Also putting together a new collection of percussion ensemble pieces for Row-loff Productions so we have had some professional endeavors as well.
That's the news for now.
Oh, did I mention I bought a 10 year old Miata. Fun!
