5-17-2010 Update, City of New Orleans Train, 2nd Anniversary Trip and Other Spring Events

Update May 21, 2010:

David and I just returned from our 2nd Anniversary trip to New Orleans on the Amtrak train, The City of New Orleans. It left from South Fulton, KY, only 15 minutes from here. We are huge fans and I know will consider traveling by train much more often. It was wonderful.

Additionally, we heard great music at the Royal Sonesta Hotel and had wonderful food at Olivier's and more.

Other events this spring include David's return to the House Band. They (and David) have never sounded better. David's voice is getting continually stronger. I get to sit in on drums with them at the Arts in the Park event in Martin this Saturday.

The 27 Trio (Julie, Micah, Matt) has done some song writing while Andy is busy with school and Jay becomes a new dad (Lily McCutcheon was born on May 18 and she is gorgeous of course). 27 is going to be doing some playing too so stay tuned. We even have t shirts again.

Commencement 2010 brought new regalia to the Hill/Coffey family. I also had my first two (all mine) graduates in Daniel Vargason and Jacob Abbott. I believe both have jobs too!

I have moved the percussion studio across campus to our 2nd temporary location. All is well now for two years until the new building is done.

Lots of fun projects at home too with the new pergola. Not how that will develop in the end, but stage I looks great even if we don't do another thing. David is so skilled.

Dad has made us another table. This one is made of the table top he is holding in the posters/web site I made for him. It's from the hickory tree that I grew up swinging from in our yard on red bud circle. So many great memories of that tree and now it is recyled and living on in other forms.

That's the news for now.
More after Art in the Park on Saturday where the Happy Hour Movement will reveal our Obama portrait and the House Band will perform.

Take Care,
Julie
