Our 3rd trip of the break proved to be even better and we able to get away to Tulum, Mexico ( about 90 km south of Cancun). Save those points and frequent flyer miles. We were able to pay for this trip with points! Woohoo.
We stayed at Nah Uxibal. It has very few cabanas and, except for the morning bird calls, was relatively quiet. The two casitas (we were in HA) are right on the beach. We woke up to a pair of fishing pelicans each morning (we dubbed Lalo and Julie) and took it easy. The casitas have kitchens and David made me a great breakfast each morning. We were able to check out the town of Tulum and the nearby Maya ruins as well as get in some good reading and a little tide pool exploration. We saw a real iguana in a tree only a few feet from us. We could have taken about 10 degrees more of heat, but it was pleasant enough and much much better than the low digit temperatures back in TN at the time. The best part of Nah Uxibal were the dogs, Donkey and Lady. If you'd like to see more check out Ricardo aka David Coffey's video tour of Nah Uxibal below. By the way, the little monkey in a few photos is Sammy (full name is Samuel Milton Blenko). We have decided to take him along when we can and show him the sites too.
