December 24, 2009

Hello Everyone,

It's been quite some time since I updated our blog. We have had some health challenges this fall as most of you know, but we are happier than ever, grateful for each day, and looking very forward to the future.

Here are a few photos of David's progress (with his permission) to help us document this life changing experience.

David has been doing very well and completed the chemo and radiation treatments. We just made a CD recording of him playing with his band called, "The House Band in The House". They sound great and David is a rock star! David has been working on encyclopedia articles too and is finishing up his last year as Interim Dean. He has expressed interest in running for Congress since John Tanner is stepping down, but no finite plans there as of yet. I personally think he would be fantastic!

I have had a great fall with fantastic students and lots of good work/publishing projects. I am teaching more and more Zumba which guarantees I have to work out at least twice a week.
I have been helping dad a little bit with promoting his wood working. His new business card/flyer photo is here. I took it in our back yard at 326 Redbud Circle. I grew up swinging from various contraptions in this old Hickory tree. Dad says it is dead and needs to be taken down. This photo seemed fitting in so many ways - dad is making some awesome pieces and has work at the Arts Coop in downtown Martin too!

I'll post some of our Christmas break trips very soon. We are headed to Nashville, Frankfort, a Titans game, Tulum, Mexico, Lookout Mountain, and to Daytona Beach for David's Richard Petty driving experience. His department gave the "experience" gift for Christmas this year.

Love to everyone,
Julie (and David)
